ordinarily, i remember little. but put on a song from my teen years and i can play air guitar, effortlessly recall every lyric (including those i got wrong then), and feel the joy and drama of those years.
songs—like smells—link us to a time, a place, a mood. companies have used this fact to connect with their external customers. why not with their internal ones?
if you had to sum up your company culture in a song, what would it be? in honor of the phillies taking the game tonight, i’m claiming this song as mine!

Hi Fran and thanks for the post. I agree that sometimes less is more. Art can speak more clearly to the needs and desires of a company than a mission statement.
I just wrote a blog post along similar lines as. Check it out and let me know what you think:

Thanks again!
I love the question, but I think it is hard to come up with just one answer. I am going to go with ‘Back on the Chain Gang’ by the Pretenders, it is a bit drab I know, but I love that song.
victorio, thanks for sharing the link. i’ll hop over there…
steve, a classic! my first instinct was to go for a song from boston, foghat, led zeppelin, or other bands from days of yore. but this was too perfect.

Working for the Man – Roy Orbison
from these two songs, seems like a lot of companies are driving, but not inspiring their employees.
