when’s the last time you got all your employees up and dancing?

in communication

maybe you’ve seen this already. at almost 2 million views on youtube, it wouldn’t surprise me. it’s the “pink glove dance,” created by hospital workers at providence st. vincent medical center in oregon to raise awareness for breast cancer.

i don’t know what it’ll do for breast cancer awareness, but i’m pretty darn sure it makes st vincent’s employees feel part of something big and part of something they’re working on together—really together. note the inclusion of everyone from the scientists to the lab technicians to the janitorial staff and food service workers.

you can call it ubiquitous, you can call it hokey. me, i’ll call it an inspired bit of employee motivation.

when you’re working on something huge, everyone counts. and every body dances.

I too loved this video — you can tell employees like working here and they have fun! What a great recruitment tool as well as a PSA. I only wish we had thought of it first! Kudos to St. Vincent Medical Center.

kerry, you’re right. what a great recruitment tool! just because they did it doesn’t mean you can’t. i’m still waiting for a busby berkeley-styled video. you could be the one to do it 🙂
