the importance of nimble communications

September 28, 2010

in communication

communication colleagues and HR brethren, while gradually opening their arms to social media, are still giving the cold shoulder to employee-generated videos and the use of consumer-grade video cameras, AKA the flip. fearful of bad content, dead space and poor lighting, they cling to their scripted and staged comfort zone.

they’re really missing out and missing it. unscripted, unguarded moments don’t wait for the scheduled time and don’t feel comfy with the big film crew. high-concept and glitzy company videos are a thing of the past. in today’s world, you’ve got to be nimble.

So true. People want to connect with the person on the video. Even if that means your hair isn’t perfect and your clothes are wrinkled. It’s authentic.

what? no helmet head?!

we’ve definitely become much more aware of the scripted word, especially the corporate-y one. and when it comes to things like picking a benefits plan, we definitely want to hear from a peer and someone who’s coming from our point of view.
