jamie oliver has a wish. he wants to teach every kid about food. real food. he made that wish after he won the TED award in 2010. since then, you know what’s happened—he launched his food revolution. on TV, he’s taken on school administrators and irascible lunch ladies to improve school lunches. he’s literally dumped tons of chicken fat and sugar in front of parents to outrage them about food quality. he’s become health coach and personal chef to featured families and their young kids. and he’s awakened all of us to the need for some pretty radical reform.
he’s expanded his work since 2010. his food revolution TV show is in its second season. and in march, he announced new initiatives and strategic partnerships, including the launch of a mobile food revolution truck and the opening of food revolution kitchens, community centers where people can learn how to cook affordable, easy-to-make recipes. these kitchens are a product of his partnership with the american heart association. but we all know where we spend the majority of our time: work. that’s why jamie oliver and IDEO have teamed up to teach employees how to cook. they’re calling their venture cooking & company, and it’s bringing a food revolution to the office.
tweet chat agenda
join cohealth on wednesday, june 15, at noon ET to talk with IDEO’s aaron sklar and helena cohen about cooking & company and “take-home wednesdays,” one of IDEO’s related food experiments. take-home wednesdays are a meal in an attaché. employees go home with a recipe, precut and premeasured food, and all necessary seasonings. IDEO’s been testing this as well as other ways of reacquainting us with healthy eating and home cooking. we’ll talk about what they’ve learned and ask the cohealth community to share their experiences and experiments too.
