in communication

i’ve been learning to let my 12-year-old daughter go. just a little bit at a time. yesterday i let her walk over to a friend’s house by herself.

“text me when you get there.”

text: “im here.”

text: “tx babe”

text: “wats tx?”

text: “thanks”

text: “o! u mean THX!”

text: “tx is legitimate.”

text: “fine. but it makes me think u r trying 2 do TXT!”

new tools. new spellings. new meanings. communications folks best have their wits about them and a readiness to flex as language morphs and generations merge. if not, i guess they can always refer to this.
